“I really love to welcome my guests personally if I can.”

Belinda and Dennis, hostshost score 9.8 on Booking.com

The house

One of a kind in Boonah, and the owners still live in it

The house was built in 1935 and sits at the top of the hill, which is why the back garden looks out over the valley instead of over a fence. Belinda and Dennis bought it, moved in, and opened three suites inside it. They’re still here, in the same building, which is why guests keep writing that somebody actually welcomed them at the door.

It’s 550 metres to the town centre, so you can leave the car where you parked it and walk in for dinner. There’s a lot of birdlife on the property. There’s also a dog called Max.

“We are also on the top of the hill with some lovely views from our backyard. Its a perfect couples getaway. Excellent location for hikers and climbers too.”Belinda, in her own words

  • Three separate suites
  • 550m from the town centre
  • Mountain and garden views

What’s included

Everything is already in the room

Breakfast comes to you rather than to a dining room at a set hour. The kettle, the toaster, the coffee machine, the fridge and the microwave are all there, so if you’re rolling in late or heading off early, it doesn’t matter to anyone.

We stayed at Hideaway on Hume for one night and had a fantastic experience. Belinda was wonderful to deal with, and the room was spotless, beautifully furnished, and stocked with everything we needed, including generous breakfast supplies. The location is perfect—just a short walk to Boonah's main street. We'll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Hideaway on Hume Bed & Breakfast in Boonah. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well looked after. A special thank you to Dennis and Belinda, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness, hospitality, and willingness to help with anything we needed made a real difference and was greatly appreciated.

Boonah and the Scenic Rim

Belinda’s list, not a tourism brochure

Boonah has cafes, an art gallery, a cinema, a library, a Supa IGA, three op shops, four pubs, bakeries and butchers. It’s all a short walk from the front gate.

Within twenty minutes’ drive there are three dams. Go to Moogerah Dam on a dark night and the number of stars is genuinely startling. There are national parks for hiking and rock climbing, a good few wineries, and the largest camel farm in the southern hemisphere.

Mount French National Park is the closest of the parks and it’s about a mile and a bit away. Brisbane Airport is 97 kilometres.
